Eureka!

Maria and Francisco are elated with J&J Associate Photographer, Michael, and not just because he takes amazing photos, but because he saved their day at the engagement session! Michael was shooting the couple at the Olympic Sculpture Park in Seattle yesterday, when only 15 minutes into the session, the bride looked down in horror to notice her diamond was missing from her ring! All three of them searched in what seemed like a pointless effort, considering they were in an area with a huge amount of gravel. Amazingly enough, Michael FOUND the diamond in the midst of everything! In his email to me today, he said "I think I might have to quit photography and pursue a lucrative career in diamond mining. What are the chances of finding a diamond, dropped in two blocks of gravel walkway?" What's even cooler, is he captured some photos of Maria and Francisco holding their (now) loose diamond. This was, of course, after they finished hugging Michael again and again.

Day off

We photographed a wedding yesterday at the Monte Villa Farmhouse. Ross and Renae are the newlyweds! Today Jody and I put some time aside for us. We recently bought Trek hybrid bikes, and today we put them to good use. We rode the Soos Creek Trail in it's entirety, 17.4 miles in all. The weather was perfect, 64 degrees and overcast. We stopped for an Emerald City Smoothie (mango and pineapple) and to take some photos with our little Casio point-and-shoot.

The newest addition to our family!!!

No, we didn't have another baby .... we adopted a brand new Nikon D3 today! Jody's been longing for this camera ever since Nikon announced they were producing a full-frame digital SLR. It arrived from our Nikon Professional Service dealer today along with the amazing Nikon f/2.8 14-24mm lens. The camera is spectacular, although I am proud to say I took all of these photos with my CANON 5D. :-)

Trash the Dress 4-13-08

What an eventful experience our 2008 Annual J&J Photography Workshop turned out to be. We began last Sunday morning with orientation which included our photographers from last year as well as the new teams we added in the off-season. Jen and I went over the stantard dos and don'ts, had lunch and reviewed poses with our bride and groom.

After the training, a handful of our photographers were invited to join Jen and I along with our Bride and Groom for a trash-the-dress session. As many of you may know, our work has been featured on www.trashthedress.com. Of course the weather did not help, but we made it work regardless.

Michael, one of our most senior associates, rented a smoke machine and we headed downtown for some fun shots. All-in-all there were about 20 of us to begin with. The rain never let up, and by the time we headed out for the next location, there were only a few of us left. We went to a nearby park even thought it was very cold and windy. Our bride was up for anything, and we couldn't pass up the opportunity to get her in the water. As you can see we had a blast and got some great shots. Props go out Michael, our stellar photographer for his great ideas, our Bride and Groom for the day, Karla and Jeremy and the rest of the gang. Enjoy the photos! Cheers, Jen and Jody

Never enough time!!!!

It has been just crazy with all this travel. We just got back from Orlando last Friday and had a wedding at TPC on Saturday, here it is Wednesday and we are leaving for San Francisco again, only to come home to a wedding on Sunday. In all that we are editing weddings, shooting and editing engagement sessions, designing, ordering and delivering albums, meeting with new and existing clients and if that was not enough my daughter turned 12 today! Happy Birthday Erica.

Oh! did I mention we had our annual photographer training/orientation on Sunday. What was with that nasty weather after 80 on Saturday. :-(

The training went great, we had a classroom full of some great people and photographers. We are excited to welcome them to our team.

After the class we took our bride and groom out on the town for a trash the dress session. That was a blast!! Will post some photos while in S.F since I will have some time to edit the photos. Did I mention that I have not even had a chance to edit the photos from our own wedding yet. Jen said she was going to call her mom and have her call me to complain...I better get crack-en on that! Cheers!

Congrats to you guys. What a beautiful wedding and a great day for weather. One of our amazing associate photographers Kristin shot the wedding with me near Olympia and we had a great time. She did an outstanding job and it was a pleasure shooting with her although I really missed Jen. Here a few photos from their big day. Cheers! Jody

Photos from Maui

Jen and I are in Maui this week for the wedding of Carol and Kevin. It is actually tomorrow but we always arrive early to scout the locations we love.

We went to our first luau last night at the Marriott resort after scouting. The fire dancing and colorful sunset were awesome! Here are some of our favorite photographs.

Cheers! Jen and Jody
