Big Climb - Seattle

Rarely is it that Jen and I promote on our blog for non-business related things, but we feel this one is special. Our friend Brad Buckles is participating in this event and we ask that you please take a look and see if this is something you might be willing to participate in or donate to:

We're still here!

Gosh... the blog has been dormant and for a good reason... We bought a house in Maple Valley! and between weddings, editing and getting the house ready to move in we have been super busy. We are super excited... We will post some pics of the house and June and July weddings soon.. I promise.. Cheers! Jen and Jody

New Addition to the Family

No we are not expecting... ummm I think 7 children is enough! Welcome Sonny to our family. He is a Purebred Labrador Retriever and he just turned 10 months old. His birthday is June 25th and we are so excited to have him join us. Sonny enjoys long walks on the beach and now and then a good meal... wait, that is me :-) Just kidding! We love him. Stay tuned as we also added a Morgan Quarter Horse to the family, but she does not stay in the backyard.. I don't think Sonny would like it... More pics to come...

Trip to Mexico cancelled

Jen and I were headed to Puerto Vallarta in a couple of weeks for some R&R but decided to cancel due to the recent H1N1 pandemic. We were really looking forward to some sun and scouting for an upcoming wedding in Sayulita.. Bummer...

Tacoma Boy's Death in our hearts

I am sure most of you have heard about 6-year-old Sebastian Hizey, killed during a Monster Jam truck show at the Tacoma Dome last Friday. Jen and I have had a very hard time with what happened to Sebastian and his family. Our hearts and prayers go out to them. We encourage everyone to stop and think about how this sudden loss has affected this family, and please take the time to make any amount of donation.

An account has been sent up in Sebastian's name at U.S. Bank. Donations can be made at any U.S. Bank branch. Ask for the Sebastian D. Hizey Memorial Fund business account.

Jen and I will attend the memorial on Saturday for personal reasons and we ask that you keep Sebastian and his family in your hearts.

Jen's Triathlon Day--Danskin 2008

On most days, I do feel like a superhero. With 8 kids (including Jody), a full-time business, and one cat named Zen, it is hard to imagine I would have time for anything extra. I still feel this drive inside to become more. I like to feel multi-dimensional. I think I really do thrive on stress. That is why I am proud to say I love triathlon! It's the craziest sport I've ever heard of. Swim 1/2 mile in cold lake water, bike 12 miles across I-90, and run a 5k (3.1 miles). Everything is timed, included the in-between transitions of changing shoes, racking bikes, etc. Yesterday's Seattle Danskin was my second tri. Jody lovingly got up at 5:30 a.m. (obtained a press pass and all!), to photograph me in the midst of the 4,000 women competing. I really had a blast, and I greatly improved upon my time from the first tri. Can't wait to do another!

The two photos of Jody were taken by one of our associates, Andy Lin, who was there photographing his girlfriend competing.

Jen to compete in the 2008 Danskin Triathlon

We just found out Jen's late application for the Triathlon was approved. She has been getting up at 6am to prepare to the competition. The bike and wetsuit are ready. I got approved for a media pass so I will be there to support her and take photos. Wish her luck! Cheers! We are triathletes!

We competed in our very first triathlon this last weekend. It was the Issaquah Triathlon. This is a Sprint-distance tri consisting of: a 1/4 mile swim in Lake Sammamish, 15-mile bike and a 3.1 mile run. For those of you new to what a tri is, everything is timed, including how quickly you can change from your wetsuit into your biking clothes, and so on. Although we competed within our own age group, we decided to do the "Friends and Family" wave, meaning we started the race together. We had a FABULOUS time, and we must admit, we are little addicted and have been looking to do more this summer. Jen is hoping to take part in the Danskin, an all-women triathlon, this August. These photos were taken by our good pro-photo friend, Kyle Miller. (The first one is our impression of wetsuit superheros.)
